2022 Kia Sorento in Columbus, GA

Design

The new Kia Sorento features two engine options and two hybrid powertrain options. The base engine that comes with the LX and S trim levels of the Sorento is a 2.5-liter inline-4 powertrain that makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The other more powerful engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that features 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. If you're concerned with a more efficiency-minded variation of the Sorento, then you might want to opt for the hybrid or plug-in hybrid version.

Performance

The standard engine included in the 2022 Kia Sorento is a 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder engine that can generate 191 horsepower. Alternatively, there is an optional 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine available that can generate 281 horsepower. The vehicle also has all-wheel drive capabilities available and an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, if you opt for the hybrid model, then you'll have a six-speed automatic transmission.

The fuel economy numbers vary depending on the engine that is included in your new Sorento. The base engine can get 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the engine that provides a little bit more power can get 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. You normally must sacrifice a little bit of gas mileage for an increase in power, but you are not sacrificing much with the Sorento. The hybrid Sorento gets great gas mileage as well. You can expect to get 39 mpg around Phenix City and 35 mpg on the highway with the hybrid vehicle.

Safety

Some of the safety features included in the new Sorento, available in the LaGrange area, are:

  • Forward-collision warning
  • Automated emergency braking
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear-cross traffic alert

The forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking work with one another to help prevent possible collisions. The sensors on the front of the vehicle can detect any objects that may be present in front of your vehicle. If an object is detected, a signal is sent to the internal computer within the Sorento. The computer then processes the signal and relays it to the emergency braking system to slow the car prior to you can react to the object.

The lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist also work with one another. The lane-departure warning feature uses sensors on the side of the vehicle to determine the width of the lane that you are in. Then, if you start to drift, it can trigger the lane-keeping assist to help steer you back into place.

The blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert are both great for identifying objects that you may be unable to see as you drive through Auburn. Whether you are changing lanes or backing out of a parking spot, these features will notify you if any kind of object is oncoming or in your way.

Interior & Technology Features

The interior of the Sorento is very detailed with complex stitched surfaces and great lighting along the dashboard. There are three rows of seats, but the third row takes away from the cargo room in the Sorento. The design and look of the dashboard are very sleek and it includes some great pieces of technology.

The technology within the car includes an 8-inch touchscreen with the option to elect for a larger 10.3-inch touchscreen. Also, you can choose a higher trim to get a wireless charging pad, Bose® premium sound system and rear entertainment system on the back of each front seat.
